WELCOME TO EUROPAC

THE EUROPEAN REGISTRY OF FAMILIAL PANCREATIC CANCER AND HEREDITARY PANCREATITIS

Home: Welcome

WHAT IS EUROPAC?

EUROPAC started to recruit families in 1997 and we currently have over 2000 families registered with us. We are a research study aiming to understand inherited conditions of the pancreas. We recruit people with a family history of pancreatic cancer and people who have been diagnosed with hereditary pancreatitis. We offer secondary pancreatic cancer screening to those who are considered to be at a higher risk of developing pancreatic cancer.

We will ask you to complete detailed personal and family history questionnaires and make an assessment of your pancreatic cancer risk based on this.  Should you be eligible for screening, we normally start this at the age of 40 (though may start screening prior to this is certain circumstances).

Further information about the two arms of the trial can be found below.

WHERE CAN I TAKE PART?

The trial is based at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where all recruitment takes place. Once recruited, we have 11 screening centres around The UK. These are:

  • Freeman Hospital, Newcastle

  • St James' Hospital, Leeds

  • Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham

  • New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton

  • Bristol Royal Infirmary

  • University College London Hospital

  • University Hospital, Southampton

  • University Hospital, Plymouth

  • Glasgow Royal Infirmary

  • Morriston Hospital, Swansea

  • Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
